Democrats Continued

OK, I thought of one more excuse that the 1/3 and 1/4 voters will make; "we won't participate in a corrupt system; the system must change".  Well, I've got news for you, it's unlikely that the system is going to get any better or less corrupt with another Republican administration.

Actually, when I think about it, there isn't one single good (enough) defense of liberals acting against their own self interests by voting for McCain.

Democrats

I read a very disturbing article in the paper today.  A recent polled showed that 1/3 of Clinton supporters and 1/4 of Obama supporters said they would vote for McCain if their candidate didn't get the nomination.  Have we learned nothing from Ralph Nader, who essentially gave George W Bush the presidency in 2000?  Are we going to elect another incompetent (in this case almost senile) Republican because we refuse to vote defensively?  Are all of you Democrats, standing on your supposed principles, willing to be responsible for the destruction from four more years of Iraq?  Are you willing to, once again, set back a woman's right to choose, equal rights based on sexual identity, and funding for the programs that benefit the poor and people of color?  Are you going to insure that the working poor have no access to adequate health care?  Are you willing to further the hate that the rest of the world has for Americans?  Are you willing to put up with four more years of tax cuts, corporate greed, and an economy based on the almighty barrel of oil?  Are you willing to cosign the further destruction of our environment?  Well, are you?

Why are people so self centered?  Oh, they will say they are standing on principle, but the bottom line is that they didn't get picked for the team so they are leaving and taking their ball.  It's another example of the rampant competition in our society. I say to all those Democrats who didn't get their first choice; ANYONE is better that four more years of Republican corruption and greed.

Get over yourself!

Is Anyone Out There?

I got an email today, from Bill, and he said he hadn't read my blog lately, but had gotten caught up.  Well, at least someone is reading this shit (do you think it's OK to say "shit"?  I am clueless about blogs).  Carol and Bill both think I'm brave for writing here, but it doesn't take much courage when only your friends are reading.  They know me well and probably aren't surprised by anything I say.  I was just thinking that I could get a lot of readers by saying a bunch of inflammatory stuff about our wonderful government and George Fucking Bush.  I wonder what phrases I would have to use.

Tomorrow is the parental unit's 90th birthday party.  God, do I lead an exotic life or what?

Painting and Peas

Since school got out I've been painting up a storm.  I have succeeded in painting over all, but one, of the paintings I did for school.  I'm really liking the outcome, but time will tell.

I actually got up to snow the other day.  I panicked because my peas had just started sprouting.  They seem to be okay, but I decided to plant the second round just in case.  It feels good to have the garden on track.

What feels even better?  Having my tax stuff ready for the accountant.  I hate paper work!

Expectations

When I awakened (awoke?) today I realized it was one of those days in which I had no obligations.  I had the entire day to study, exercise, and paint.  I always get a delicious feeling of expectation when I have a day like this.  (I really don't derived any pleasure from the expectation of exercising and do it as little as possible, but when I have all day it's not as annoying.)  I once had a friend who said if you could bottle anticipation you would have the best drug yet.  I tend to agree with this.  I guess the only problem is that it takes us out of the present (oh gee, an escape from reality--I bad)  There are some expectations, like this morning thinking about walking down the road to the mailbox to get the paper, that are mildly negative.  It's cold, wet and I haven't had my coffee, yet when I'm out there it's pretty cool.  I guess the real trap is when people put too much emphasis on the outcome.  So far I haven't been disappointed in my day as there's really not much riding on it.  I have studied a little, exercised a little and planted the peas in the garden.  Now it's time to paint; so far, so good.
